New Year's Eve Gala
The 4th Annual New Year’s Eve Gala was held December 31, 2006 at Glen Arven Country Club.  This black tie event featured live music, delicious fare, and an auction with vacations and dinners up for bid. At midnight, revellers rang in the new year with a champagne toast. What a fantastic way to begin the new year in style!
75th Anniversary Brunch
The 2006-07 year marks the 75th
anniversary of the Thomasville Junior Service League. In an effort to promote volunteerism and support of children’s programs and services throughout the community, TJSL kicked off the 2006-07 League year with a special brunch and ceremony on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Pebble Hill Plantation. This event honored all active, sustaining and provisional members who have contributed countless hours to assist the children of Thomasville and Thomas County.
Service Hour Totals Are In!
What a great League year we've had! At the end of April 2006, the Provisional Class completed 1,711 hours of service. As a whole, TJSL completed 6,842 hours for the 2005-06 League year! (League = 3,539, Community Service = 2,311 and Cultural Center/Clinic = 992.) Congratulations!
Project Rosebud 2006
The 2nd Annual "Project Rosebud" event, hosted by the 2005-06 Provisional Class, was held Saturday, April 22, 2006 with many special activities for several local young ladies. This wonderful event not only offers ten middle-school-aged young ladies the opportunity to have a great beauty makeover, it also incorporates self-esteem boosting opportunities with the help of local female guest speakers who are role models within our community. TJSL has created this initiative to offer these deserving young ladies the tools that they need in order to become successful female role-models themselves and to develop a sense of pride within themselves. Thank you to the entire Provisional Class who made this event such a memorable experience for the "rosebuds!"
TJSL Donates Playground Equipment
On October 1, 2005, the Thomasville Junior Service League donated a play structure worth $20,000 to the City of Thomasville located at Cherokee Lake Park on the corner of Smith and Covington Avenues. The structure is designed for children ages 2-12 and will provide many years of enjoyment for the children of Thomasville and Thomas County.

Safe-T-Ville 2006
TJSL is proud to assist with a special program called Safe-T-Ville. This year's program
was held June 5-8 and June 12-15, 2006. Safe-T-Ville began in 1983 as a Summer safety educational program for young children. It was patterned after a similar program in Ohio. The idea originated with a Junior Service League member, Lynn Derringer. Lynn approached Lt. Norman Taylor (now retired) of the Thomasville Police Department and together TJSL and the police department implemented the program. The original Safe-T-Ville village was constructed by TJSL members and Thomasville High School students and was first held at Garrison Pilcher Elementary School. The program has been held during the past several years at Balfour School due to the great village they had constructed that is representative of a small town with small roads. The Safe-T-Ville campers can ride their bikes and practice safety rules throughout this village. Sergeant Rachelle Denmark now oversees the program. She has successfully kept the tradition going as well as added First Aid by the American Red Cross and Internet Safety. These recent additions not only keep the program interesting, but also up to date. TJSL has been the major partner with the Thomasville Police Department to make this program successful by financially committing to the program and by providing all refreshments to campers and volunteers. This is yet another service provided to the children of Thomasville and Thomas County that should make everyone proud.
